Let’s do brunch!

As you may or may not know, I'm a whore for a good brunch! I love a leisurely Sunday spent around the table with good friends, fabulous food, lots of talk, and perhaps a mimosa or two. Or three.

Cutie feels the same way, which is why this past Sunday, we indulged in a little brunch at Petite Maison

We sat, we ate, we pretended to be at an outdoor cafe in Paris.

Delicious beignets to start. Apps for brunch? Well, we are in Paris. They were fiercely hot, yet the dough could have used a little more sugar. Nutella sauce was tasty, as always. You know by now that I love the Nutella.

Beignets

Croque Madames with pomme frites for both of us (sans ham for Cutie). The croque was excellent. Croissant, salty ham, egg with a perfectly runny yolk. The frites weren't swoon-worthy and got cold quickly since we were eating outside.

We sat in their little courtyard abloom with flowers. And while, it was far from a cafe in Paris, I will definitely be spending another Sunday brunch there soon.

Quote of the Day

Granola

"There are some concerns related to what we call 'ghetto sous vide' cooking at home – like the possible but unlikely leaching of chemicals out of plastic bags – we never had a problem with it when we did it at the restaurant, and in the course of testing it for this book, no one had any adverse reactions to it. If you are going to be lazy, sloppy, unhygienic, or careless, it's not worth trying. If you're the kind of person who wears a football helmet every time you take a city bus, or you litigate recreationally, or you're with child, ghetto sous vide is not for you."

~David Chang

(I don't know why, but this made me laugh :o) Happy Monday!)
